1. Please check the
silver threaded "F" connector on the Xium 'Spilateral'
cylinder. It should not turn continuously. Damage may occur if the
"F" connector nut is tightened too much, causing the
"F" connector to break away from the 'Spilateral' units
internal circuitry.
2. The copper
center-lead pin at each end of the coaxial cable is inserted into
the hole of silver threaded connector on both the Xium Spilateral
unit and to the TV.
3. Check to make sure
that your TV is cable ready. If not, a VHF/UHF Band Separator may
be needed for connecting to the TV.
4. VERY
IMPORTANT! Select "OFF/Air - ANT"
viewing through the TV's menu setting. Most TV's allow the option
for selecting either "CATV" or "ANT" mode,
depending on the signal source going into the TV. You may refer to
your TV's Owner's Guide for instructions on selecting the
"ANT" mode.
5. Check for proper
grounding of "F connector" located on the Spilateral
unit. The ground wire from ground ring should be attached to a
metallic object, separate from 'earth ground', i.e.; aluminum
venting. Note: Plumbing
pipes are typically used for earth grounding and is not a
recommended source for grounding the Spilateral cylinder unit.
6. Check the coax
cable for damage. If constructing your own coax cable, make sure
that the connectors are properly crimped and grounded.
7. Try a connection
directly to your TV. By-pass all other electronic components such
as a VCR or DSS. The XiumAir may be used in conjunction with these
components. However, there may be more signal loss through these
components than with a direct connection.
